Brief Synopsis:

Marvelous and wonderful things often happen when the night is cold and the moon is shrouded in a deep and winding fog. A light mist of rain can even set the mood for magical and spiritual events. On my night, the night when these marvelous, wonderful, and according to the barometer, magical things will happen, I find myself here in this deserted and lonely place in the middle of the park that is mere blocks from my home.

I cannot recall seeing this gazebo before, or the rickety wooden benches with chipping paint. Even the rings of brilliant yellow roses that circle the gazebo are unfamiliar. Surely I must have walked past this platform a hundred times or more as I took the dog for afternoon relief, but today – this is the first day that I actually see the gazebo, and I mean really see it and experience it.

It was the haunting message that brought me here tonight. The message in the letter directed me to this specific gazebo on this specific night. It was signed only The Peregryn, and it appeared in the letter box only two days ago. Lucky for me that the postal holiday is not until next week, or I may have never known what awaited me in this moist and secluded spot set amongst the evergreen trees.

Thus begins the latest short by author Heath L. Buckmaster. The Peregryn takes us on a cold and mystical journey, when the unnamed main character receives a strange letter in the mail. The letter reveals the presence of a watcher, a stalker perhaps, who wants a meeting in two days, and offers mysterious services.
